Dinky Dau the Civet I was with the aviation platoon attached to HHC 1st Brigade, 101st Airborne Division in Viet Nam. In the summer of 1969 the brigade airlifted south from Camp Eagle to Tam Ky for Operation Lamar Plain. The aviation platoon was back at the flight line in Chu Lai. One of our crew chiefs was parked out at Hau Duc when he saw a cute little animal kitten in a rough cage. It looked like a stretched racoon, with “masked” black eyes and a really long ringed tail.
